Educational Programs

Farmstead 'Avilys' takes place in beekeeping educational activities during which is removing honey from a hive, making candles and tasting honey cake, visitors are introduced to the traditions and beekeeping tools, bee products and beekeeping history in Lithuania.
Until the 6th decade of 19th century, sea-buckthorns in Baltic region could naturally be found just in the sand dunes

In Alytus Handicraft school tourists can spend their leisure with art. School offers 4 kinds workshops of art: pottery's workshops, painting (drawn, painting on silk, painting on the dishes), wool felting, wickerwork.

The museum offers nine titles of thematic programs for all ages. Programs for primary classes are developed by A. Matutis creations which encourages small readers to go deeper into the mysteries of nature are more often to take a poetry book. Senior pupils will get acquainted with the writer's biography, passions, his rich personality. At one time in the program can participate no more than 20 students.

In the Puppet theater 'Aitvaras' children can see not only the performances, but also to participate in the educational program, where they will learn about puppet theater specifics, puppet techniques, how to make a doll and how to manage its features.

The expositions of the museum and valuable exposits from the museum collections enable us to know the country‘s past better. Classes on Lithuanian history, numismatics, archaelogy, and ethnography will help pupils to answer questions at history and world knowledge lessons. They will be active participants: they will work at window-cases, carry out various practical tasks or just have fun. The educational programme of the museum has exploratory character and is oriented to pupils of different age. Interesting and unexpected tasks develop pupils‘ creativeness and thinking. Unconventional and integrated presentation of the materials helps to establish attractive study atmosphere.
